Hotel operator Accor kickstarted its partnership with DV Collective with a $20,000 donation to help support the organisation’s mission of reducing the devastating impact of domestic and family violence in Australia.
The donation amount is a combined effort of Accor’s contribution and the results of the group’s recent World’s Best Exchange Rate campaign. This saw people donating loose foreign currency at pop-up booths across Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
DV Collective is an Australian non-profit organisation working to eliminate waitlists that women currently face when trying to access domestic violence support services.
It fundraises to secure resources on behalf of shelters, caseworkers, counsellors, women’s legal services and trauma recovery programs for both mothers and children.
Their contributions have provided additional beds, linen, and essential supplies to shelters across Australia, while also coordinating critical shelter upgrades, such as bathrooms and playgrounds.
Community fund reimagined
DV Collective is the inaugural Australian charity partner under the hotel group’s reimagined Accor Community Fund.
Accor Pacific COO PM&E, Adrian Williams, said the fund is about bringing “purpose and compassion to support causes that matter deeply to our teams and our communities”.
“Our partnership with DV Collective marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to addressing domestic violence, an issue that affects too many. We’re proud to take action alongside such a passionate and impactful organisation,” Williams said.
Initiatives for the partnership will include a Silly Sock Campaign – selling DV Collective’s bright, purpose-driven socks across 70+ Accor hotels; repurposing furniture from hotel refurbishments to support DV shelters; skilled volunteering; an essential supplies drive; peer-to-peer fundraising; and hotel-led fundraising initiatives.
