Accor has opened the doors to Australia’s first Mövenpick Hotel.
Close to the Hobart waterfront the 221-room venue, the latest hotel in the Swiss heritage hotel chain owned by Accor, is the first of a string of hotels in the Pacific region.
Accor Pacific CEO, Simon McGrath, said “Mövenpick Hotel Hobart transcends the traditional hotel experience by masterfully blending the brand’s Swiss heritage with a premium hospitality experience.
“Accor is planning more locations for Mövenpick across the Pacific and we believe this premium brand will quickly gain recognition for its culinary and service excellence.”
A range of signature Mövenpick brand experiences are on offer.
Mövenpick Hotel Hobart also boasts a flexible function space for up to 100 guests.
The hotel has opened on schedule, following the announcement in November of a mid-January unveiling.
The Mantra, another hotel brand in the group and Australia’s largest hotel brand according to Accor, has opened a new-build 50-room hotel in the heart of Latrobe Valley’s largest city, Traralgon, in partnership with LA Hotel Group.
The first hotel to open in the city in more than 10 years, Mantra Traralgon is targeting both business travellers and leisure guests in the Gippsland region.
It’s an $18m, five-level development directly opposite the city’s major retail centre and within an entertainment complex that houses a cinema, ten-pin bowling and bistro.
LA Hotel Group director and Mantra Traralgon GM Andrew McDonald, said “We are delighted to be partnering with Accor, who are the market leader of accommodation in Australia, under a franchise agreement. Accor’s Mantra brand is the ideal fit for our hotel and we’ve enjoyed working with their team to create a hotel that is both contemporary and welcoming.”
Accor acquired the Mantra business in 2018 and the brand now has more than 75 hotels in Australia.
