Real estate business Barry Plant is holding its annual Wishtober event in October, in benefit of the children’s charity Make-A-Wish Australia.

This will be the 10th year for the campaign, with a portion of the commission from every property sold in October donated to the children’s charity.

The real estate network has raised more than $1 million for Make-A-Wish Australia to help the charity fulfil the dreams of young children with critical illnesses. Children like eight-year-old Sammy, diagnosed with pleuropulmonary blastoma, who “couldn’t stop smiling” when presented with her dream of an ice-castle playhouse.

Barry Plant representative Kashka Hardy later met Sammy and her family to provide “extra goodies” for the new playhouse and stated that “being part of something so meaningful is a real privilege”.

“Seeing the joy and impact of Sammy’s wish in-person really highlighted the importance of Wishtober, it makes you proud to be a part of a network that values the initiative so much,” he said.

CEO of Make-A-Wish Australia, Sally Bateman, said “With record numbers of new applications into our Wish program over the past year, Barry Plant’s vital support continues to make an extraordinary impact in the community, allowing wish kids and their families to create moments to look forward to and memories which will last a lifetime.”
