Troy McDonagh, managing director at Betty’s Burgers, has announced his departure from the Retail Zoo brand.

McDonagh wrote on LinkedIn: “After seven of the most incredible years at the helm of Betty’s Burgers, its time for the next adventure”.

He described his leadership role as “an honour and privilege”, leading a team aligned to “our core values of passion, integrity, authenticity and genuine hospitality”.

McDonagh joined the business in 2019, bringing C-suite and executive experience to the multi-brand franchisor. His experience includes Village Cinemas and franchise brands Gloria Jean’s Coffee, Oporto, and Red Rooster.

Under McDonagh’s leadership the burger chain reported an $80m+ revenue in 2021, despite the pandemic challenges, and ventured into Western Australia, where it now has three stores.

Last year Betty’s Burgers opened its first airport site, in the casual dining district of Sydney’s T1 International terminal. The chain has a 66-store footprint across Australia.
