CEO takes to video for GYG restaurant staff recruitment message

As Guzman Y Gomez picks up the pace of its recruitment for restaurant staff, founder and CEO Steven Marks is stepping in and spruiking the brand’s hiring spree in a new video.

GYG is looking for hundreds of Aussies to fill its new and existing restaurants nationally along with its headquarters in Sydney. Full time, part-time and casual roles are available from cooks to sales and food service, superstar baristas, team leaders, and restaurant managers.

The popular Mexican food chain is targeting a minimum of 200 hires in March.

In the video Marks emphasises the “limitless” potential for new recruits and references the speed of growth and development of drive-thru restaurants as the chain increases its network.

Last year the chain hit a mega milestone, reaching a cumulative $1 billion revenue since opening in 2006.

Despite the pandemic, in 2020 GYG opened a further 17 restaurants across Australia, a pace that’s continuing into this year with three new outlets already trading and plans for up to 60 restaurants to open within the next 24 months.

In December 2020 the Magellan Financial Group acquired 10 per cent of the Mexican chain from existing shareholders for $86.8 million.

At the time, Marks said “Our ambition is to be best restaurant company in the world and, to achieve that, we need the support of the best partners, investors, and a world class board of directors… We could not think of a better partner to have alongside us as we enter the next, most exciting phase of the GYG journey.”
