The Korean fast food brand, Chatime Group’s Goobne Chicken, is getting set for franchise expansion with a target of six new stores in 12 months.
The second company-owned outlet opens this month next to East Village in Sydney’s inner city suburb, Zetland. Goobne Chicken’s first store was unveiled at Darling Harbour last year.
Another six new quick service restaurant locations operating on 100-130sqm with a focus on high delivery/takeaway services are planned for Sydney starting with suburbs like Chatswood, Epping and Strathfield.
Chatime Group intends to build a footprint in New South Wales before opening up franchise opportunities interstate.
Although still a fledgling brand in Australia, Goobne Chicken has expanded from its Korean base across Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macao and Malaysia.
Chatime Group reports current Chatime franchisees are lining up to open a Goobne restaurant as a way to expand their own business.
Investment is set at $450,000 to $550,000 for a turnkey franchise.
Goobne Chicken joins the crowded hot chicken marketplace in Australia, which includes Korean fried chicken chains Gami Chicken & Beer, NeNe Chicken, and Buza Chicken, mega global brand KFC, as well as homegrown brands such as Country Fried Chicken, Ogalo, and craveable brand’s stablemates Chicken Treat, Oporto and Red Rooster.
Goobne dishes up Korean chicken with a difference, baking without oil rather than frying its chicken.
