Franchise Business to expand under new ownership

We’ve got a new home! The leading franchising media group Franchise Business has been acquired from Cirrus Media by publishing firm Octomedia.

Franchise Business will now sit in the Octomedia portfolio alongside leading retail titles, including Inside Retail, Inside Small Business and Inside FMCG.

The Franchise Business group features Franchising magazine (now in its 29th year); the website (the official online directory of the FCA); the twice-weekly Franchise newsletter for prospective franchisees; and the weekly franchisor and franchisee-focused Franchise Industry Bulletin.

The editorial, sales and marketing team will move with the business to Octomedia’s Sydney CBD office.

Octomedia CEO Oliver Ranck said “Franchises employ nearly half a million people and contribute $144 billion to the Australian economy. It is a vital and vibrant sector of the retail industry and through this acquisition we aim to provide franchise buyers with the insights and news they require to succeed.”

The acquisition will reinforce the company’s position as one of Australia’s leading B2B publishers. Octomedia has continued to grow key titles, such as Inside Retail, which has recently expanded into its sixth market.

“We see a strong market for Franchise Business, our goal is to further expand the title abroad” said Ranck.

Franchise Business will also play an integral role in Octomedia’s three-day retail conference, Inside Retail Live, which will be held in March 2017.

Operating since 1972, Octomedia has grown in recent years under the guidance of Chairman Nati Harpaz and CEO Oliver Ranck from a team of seven with two core publications to more than 13 publications operating in multiple countries across APAC.
