The popular Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo is back in Sydney next week, one of the first live exhibitions to return to the city’s convention centre.
The expo runs from 26-27 March with about 100 exhibitors showcasing their business services and franchises with about 3000 visitors expected to attend over the two days.
Organisers say the industry is keen to get back in front of consumers to meet the huge demand to explore new careers and working for yourself.
Exhibition manager Fiona Stacey said “People have experienced the frustration and joy of working from home through lockdown. The pandemic has forced us all to think about our careers and lifestyle. It is no surprise that people want greater control over their future. Working for yourself is one way to achieve that, and franchising might be the best way to turn that dream into reality.”
While recent controversies over some major franchise chains may have dinted confidence, Stacey believes the sector is in a period of renewal, and consumer attitudes are changing.
The expo has been operating for more than 30 years and launched thousands of new businesses.
Stacey stressed the organisers have worked closely with the venue to meet safety requirements. Visitors will be required to register before entering the show, handwashing stations are available and the layout ensures there is plenty of space for visitors with no need for crowding.
Exhibitors are being asked to use an elbow bump rather than a handshake.
Mary Aldred, CEO of the Franchise Council of Australia, said the live shows had been sorely missed over the last year and she was delighted that were back.
“Getting into your own business is a big decision. These events give everyday Australians a chance to take those first steps. Our team will be there to talk about how franchising can be a very effective way to make this happen with a support structure around you.”
Inside Franchise Business will be at the show on stand A21. Come and say hello.
