The Aussie-born brand Pirtek is expanding its footprint in north America, launching into Canada with plans for one new location in each province.
Glenn Duncan, international director of the family-owned Pirtek business and based in the US, told Inside Franchise Business Executive the company has just completed the regulatory requirements to meet the franchising laws in each Province and Territory.
“We have identified 35 individual territories which are able to provide and sustain ongoing business, based around the business model we are operating today. ”
Establishing these territories will give Pirtek a strong footprint as a national provider to the Canadian market, he said.
“Our US organisation will be providing the initial development, training, sales, product and technical support. This will continue in the early stages and gradually transition to all local support as the business develops,” he added.
Kim Gubera, Pirtek USA CEO, said “Pirtek has already expanded into 23 countries, branching out into brand new areas is charted territory for us, and Canada has a healthy need for hydraulic and industrial hose repair.
“Our new Canadian franchisees will help build the Pirtek brand in the country, and they’ll receive comprehensive training and support to ensure they’re great ambassadors for more country-wide franchisees to follow. This is a great opportunity where the sky’s the limit for wide-reaching territories and revenues.”
This global service provider for on-site hydraulic and industrial hose replacement and related product retailer operates has more than 430 units worldwide.
Sales rose 7 per cent from June 2019 to June 2020, despite the pandemic and units increased 28.5 per cent over the same period.
The Pirtek franchise model was founded in 1980 by Glenn’s father, Peter Duncan. Just last month the business celebrated its 100th franchise in Australa with the opening of its Albany location.
In April the US division, bought back by the parent company in 2015, is set to open its 100th franchise next month with the launch of a Wisconsin location.
