Australia’s largest hairdressing franchise Just Cuts is adding another initiative to its ongoing commitment to mental health concerns with the imminent launch of the #Hearts4SANE campaign.
The franchise network will be collecting $1-$2 donations in salons across Australia for five days to support national mental health charity SANE Australia.
SANE Australia supports people affected by complex mental health issues, providing services including a national freecall line and online help centre with forums and live chat.
Complex mental health issues affect 5 million Australians, and then their families.
The Just Cuts #Hearts4Sane campaign goal is to raise more than$20,000 to assist SANE’s support services through either gold coin or EFTPOS donations.
Clients can purchase a Blue Heart in salons, which they can also sign and write a message on to show their support. The hearts will be placed on salon walls for the duration of the fundraising drive.
Just Cuts CEO, Amber Manning, said stylists will also wear blue to raise awareness for SANE.
“The pandemic is driving a spike in demand for mental health services, so Just Cuts salons and stylists are once again stepping up to support our community and each other. It’s important to remember this time of year can be incredibly hard for some,” she said.
“With people impacted by complex mental health issues dying up to 30 years earlier, affordable access to quality support services that promote mental wellbeing is critical during Christmas time.
“No one should suffer in silence when there are specialised services like SANE willing to listen.”
SANE Peer Ambassador, Dr Dov Degen, thanked the hair chain for its support.
“2020 has undoubtedly been a challenging year for all Australians, but even more so for those of us affected by complex mental health issues. Thank you Just Cuts for helping to raise funds for SANE,” he said.
