KFC has opened its 800th restaurant in Australia, unveiling a store at Oran Park, Western Sydney.

The new KFC Oran Park features a drive-through and digital kiosks. It is also partially constructed from recycled materials and incorporates other eco-friendly features such as solar panels and energy-efficient lighting.

The chicken chain was last year’s fastest-growing quick-service restaurant brand, opening 34 extra locations in 2023.

Kristi Woolrych, general manager – KFC SOPAC, said “Our growth is centred on our commitment to driving innovation across the industry, whether that be with new flavours and menu items, or across our technology and operations. We are focused on creating an unmatched customer experience, and we look forward to continued growth and feeding more KFC fans across the country.”

The first Australian KFC opened in the western Sydney suburb of Guildford on 27 April 1968 and employed 25 people. Today the fast food chain has more than 44,000 team members across the country.

KFC Oran Park is creating 70 new jobs, with the team led by restaurant general manager, Ali Naghi.
