Mail Boxes Etc. has opened its 40th outlet in Australia, and have five more sites set to open before the end of 2020.

Clayton Treloar, MBE Australia CEO, said there has been a surge in franchise enquiries since July.

“It’s been a busy second-half to the year and we’re expecting steady growth over the coming months with a rise in franchise enquiries which has been very positive for us.”

The 40th outlet has brand new franchisees at the helm in the Port Macquarie location, which opened its doors on 1 September 2020.

The MBE team have also secured new franchisees in Fremantle, Western Australia.

James Young, head of franchise sales and development at DC Strategy, said “We’ve seen that all of the hard work over the last six months – even during Covid – has finally built a solid foundation for the MBE network and it’s fantastic to see the new franchises up and running with more locations on the way.”

Future sites include a new Melbourne location, as well as another three franchise grants confirmed, with the exact locations yet to be named.

These openings are part of the MBE aggressive expansion plan to add a further 80 Australian stores over the next five years. This will include PostNet stores converting to a Mail Boxes Etc (MBE) livery after the closure of the former brand.

MBE offers several income streams for franchisees across three different business models: full store, mini store and kiosk.

The kiosk model starts at $50,000, the mini store costs from $80,000.

Earlier in the year the business added a new service for franchisees to offer: a secure cloud-based platform to allow customers to view and manage their mail anywhere in the world.

With the new digital mailbox software platform MBE business centres and mail centre franchisees can offer customers a Digital Mailbox in minutes. The system is operated via a smartphone app.
