Former deputy leader of the Liberal Party, Sussan Ley MP, has won the party’s leadership election.

A statement from the Franchise Council of Australia said Ley’s leadership brings with it a deep understanding of small business and a proven commitment to working constructively with the franchising sector.

The Franchise Council of Australia has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with Ley, according to CEO Jay Westbury.

“We congratulate Sussan Ley on her elevation to the leadership of the Liberal Party and welcome her continued support for the franchising sector. Her collaborative approach and deep understanding of our industry have always been appreciated by the FCA and our members,” he said.

The FCA has also congratulated its former CEO Mary Aldred on her election as the new Member for Monash. As the former CEO of the FCA, Aldred brings valuable insights into the value franchising delivers to communities and the economy.

“Mary’s prior leadership of the FCA gives her a unique and practical appreciation of the value of franchising to the Australian economy. We look forward to working closely with her in her new role as a Member of Parliament,” Westbury said.
