The Brisbane Franchising & Business Opportunities expo is switching the upcoming mid-June dates to early October, a sign there is still a way to go in business confidence.
Fiona Stacey, exhibition manager at Specialised Events, said “Despite the improving conditions we have had a number of companies contact us to say they are not ready to exhibit at the expo in Brisbane next month. We take these concerns seriously and have been looking at how we can make the show as safe and successful as possible.”
The revised schedule means the Brisbane show will be running from 8-9 October 2021.
Stacey said there will be some inconvenience for companies that have booked events around the show.
But she stressed the importance of running a successful show “that delivers maximum value for exhibitors and visitors”.
In a communication to exhibitors Stacey said “Your success and the growth of the franchising sector is our first priority”.
The Melbourne show scheduled for 20-21 August is almost at exhibitor capacity, according to Specialised Events.
“We are confident that visitor confidence will be running at full strength by this time and that both Melbourne and Brisbane will be hugely successful,” said Stacey.
New features at the expos this year include a two-hour Start You Own Business workshop on the Saturday morning and a full day Franchisee Success Summit designed for both existing and potential franchisees. The Summit will deliver practical lessons and strategies to grow a successful and profitable business.
Last year the March-scheduled Sydney expo was the first casualty of the Covid-19 lockdown, and Sydneysiders welcomed the show back to the ICC for the first time in two years late March 2021.
This year’s smaller one-day Perth event planned for this month has been postponed until 1 May 2022.
