Poolwerx opens 11 stores in 11 months, with conversions and new outlets in the mix.
The openings are evidence, says founder and CEO John O’Brien, of the demand for home services.
The pool care chain has acquired five independent pool servicing stores in Baulkham Hills in New South Wales, Kings Park and Hampstead Gardens South Australia and another two due to open on New Zealand’s North Island.
John O’Brien said “In all of these acquisitions, we’re helping long term industry veterans with their exit strategy. I’m also buoyed to see our existing franchise partners continue to grow their business and open new retail locations, which speaks to the resilience of our business model, even in the midst of a recession.
“The home service industry has proven time and time again to be recession-resistant and this has become particularly evident during Covid-19,” O’Brien said.
A further six new retail locations are also set to open in the coming months across New South Wales, Western Australian and Queensland, with multi-unit franchisees at the helm.
The new sites are at Mosman, Kenthurst and Port Stephens in New South Wales; in Jimboomba and Mogill in Queensland; and Victoria Park, Western Australia.
Poolwerx Hills Shire franchisee Tim Oldfield acquired a new store from an independent in the Sydney suburb of Baulkham Hills as his second retail location.
“Back in March, we felt that uncertainty all business owners experienced when the pandemic hit and no one was sure what the year had in store for us. But with the support of the broader network, we quickly adapted, delivering new services for our customers. The brand has really turned a challenge into an opportunity, which has seen us thrive during this time,” Oldfield said.
The boom in the home services sector over winter helped Poolwerx franchisees achieve rising sales figures, and added to its recruitment success, COO Nic Brill told Inside Franchise Business Executive in September.
