Poolwerx, Australia’s largest pool and spa maintenance network, has hit an impressive milestone with the opening of its 150th retail store. The latest retail outlet is in Cannon Hill, Brisbane, Queensland.
The opening signals a period of accelerated growth for Poolwerx which is predicting double-digit expansion over the next five years and targeting double-digit total revenue growth for FY26.
ANZ chief operating officer, Steve Halls, said the future of the business will be shaped by rapid, compounding growth driven by technology within a flexible, information-enabled organisation.
“For over 30 years, Poolwerx has achieved steady, sustainable growth, but what’s ahead is exponential,” Halls said.
“We’re seeing more business professionals invest in the pool and spa industry as they recognise its resilience and the strength of our franchise model. The 150th store isn’t just a number, it’s a testament to our franchise partners’ belief in the brand, and their commitment to building local businesses that create lasting community impact.”
Poolwerx’ 150th store is owned by a multi-unit franchisee
The 150th store is part of the Poolwerx Mt Gravatt Group, led by franchisee Richard Kelly. The group is one of Poolwerx’s largest and most successful territories.
Since joining Poolwerx in 2021, Kelly has achieved 58 per cent revenue growth across his four retail stores (Balmoral, Carindale, Mt Gravatt, and Rochedale). The business also operates 20 service vans.
The Cannon Hill store was part of a JC Pools acquisition, Poolwerx’s largest acquisition to date.
John O’Brien, the founder of Poolwerx, said opening the 150th store is a proud moment.
“Reaching 150 stores in Australia is a moment of immense pride for the entire Poolwerx family. When I started this business over 30 years ago, the vision was simple: to help Australians enjoy their pools safely,” O’Brien said.
“What’s driven our success since then has been the determination of our franchise partners, our commitment to innovation, and the trust we’ve built with local communities through good and tough times alike to ensure healthy backyards to create poolside family memories.”
