Poolwerx is piloting a program designed to slash energy bills for pool owners and provide key data to franchisees.

In a partnership with energy infrastructure firm Intellihub, Poolwerx has unveiled the Pooled Gen 2 Controller. This retrofit smart device installed between pool equipment and the power supply monitors and automates key pool functions in real time.

The system learns a pool’s filtration needs and shifts pump operation into off-peak tariff windows, reducing unnecessary runtime and optimising chemistry cycles. Clients can also monitor their pool’s performance through a companion app.

Global CEO at Poolwerx, Nic Brill, said the trial is a critical step in modernising the industry service offering.

“The launch of the Pooled Gen 2 Controller completely shifts the mindset from reactive to proactive maintenance and health management. By combining Intellihub’s advanced data capabilities with our pool care expertise, we are delivering a first-to-market technology that gives Poolwerx a clear competitive edge.

Smart insights and diagnostics for franchisees

“For our clients, this means automated energy savings of up to 40 per cent and the peace of mind that their pool is constantly being optimised for water health.

“For our franchise partners, it arms them with unparalleled smart insights and remote diagnostics to solve issues before they even occur,” Brill said.

Poolwerx clients can join the Pooled Gen 2 Controller trial via a subscription service. This bundles the hardware, app, installation, and ongoing remote monitoring into a single monthly fee.

To encourage participation and gather vital data on household savings, selected homeowners will receive a 12-month free subscription, valued at just over $700.

Insights from the trial will help shape a broader national rollout planned for later this summer.

The initiative is partially funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).
