The sushi dining chain Sushi Jiro has launched its brand into Western Australia, unveiling its first restaurant in Perth at Westfield Carousel.

Anna Kasman, CEO, told QSR Media the prime site was an obvious destination for the launch. The centre attracts a diverse and large customer base and offers high visibility and accessibility, she said.

Kasman has more than 25 years experience in sushi retailing, co-founding Sushi Sushi in 1998 before selling it to private equity in 2019.

Perth’s new sushi train restaurant will seat 126 guests, not quite equalling the 171-seat restaurant that opened earlier this year in Brisbane’s Westfield Chermside. Along with a Pacific Fair site on the Gold Coast it marked the brand’s expansion into Queensland.

Sushi Jiro now has 28 locations across Victoria, Queensland and WA.

In its home state of Victoria Sushi Jiro is reportedly transforming its Emporium takeaway outlet into a robotic sushi train offer.
