Hooters Inc, the original founders of the iconic chain, is rolling out restaurant upgrades nationwide as the company plans to return the brand to its roots after retaking control of the business.

Hooters Inc, along with partners from Hoot Owl Restaurants, has completed the acquisition of Hooters of America (HOA), which owned and franchised the Hooters brand. They were the two major Hooters franchisees that collectively owned more than 30 per cent of domestic locations.

The sale is part of a Restructuring Support Agreement between the buyer group and HOA, after the latter filed for Chapter 11 earlier this year. Under the agreement, Hooters Inc and Hoot Owl Restaurants would acquire 111 company-owned Hooters locations.

Following the deal, the Hooters founders and their partners own approximately 140 of the 198 domestic Hooters restaurants. These domestic restaurants, along with the 60 international locations, represent approximately $700 million in systemwide sales.

The Hooters heritage began in 1983

The original Hooters founders opened their first restaurant in Clearwater, Florida, in 1983. They are now committed to bringing these same experiences and values to the acquired locations.

The company will focus on restaurant upgrades, improved service, equipment enhancements, and a streamlined menu built around better, higher-quality ingredients.

This simplified menu will see the return of fan-favorite dishes, including Hooters’ hand-breaded wing recipe and wing sauces.

The restaurants will feature a renewed focus on family and community brought to life through events, local partnerships and sponsorships.

In addition, all uniforms of the famous ‘Hooters Girls’ will return to the original look, staying true to the brand’s original beachy vibe and heritage.

“We’re not just acquiring restaurants – we’re taking back the Hooters name to show the world who we really are,” said Neil Kiefer, CEO of Hooters Inc.

“Our vision is about more than great food and service. It’s about bringing people together, making memories, and ensuring that Hooters remains a place where everyone feels welcome,” he added.
