Big investment helps HUBBED ease last mile delivery pain points

HUBBED, a technology-enabled solution for last mile delivery which works with carriers including CouriersPlease, DHL and TOLL, has secured a $12 million investment from the Australian Business Growth Fund (ABGF). This is to support HUBBED’s innovative Pick-Up Drop-Off (PUDO) – a consumer collections model that provides more choice for carriers, retailers and consumers as it cuts the cost of delivery.

The Future of Delivery Report commissioned by Uber and released in March found that, in urban areas, more than half the cost of a delivery is in the last 1.6 kilometres to a customer’s home.

HUBBED provides an alternative to the high-cost and environmentally unfriendly traditional home delivery model, offering consumers the option of receiving parcels from a convenient, designated collection point. Delivery via the HUBBED network also provides an eco-friendlier solution as trucks spend less time on the road delivering to homes.

Currently, there are 2,150 convenient locations nationally including outlets such as local 7-Eleven stores, BP service stations, National Storage and independent retailers. ABGF’s investment will provide an opportunity for HUBBED to scale up collection points to 3,000 nationwide and expand the range of collections services for its customers and partners. The investment will also be used to accelerate new last-mile service offerings, as well as give the business access to a board of engaged advisors.

Innovative Pick-Up Drop Off model

The PUDO model is built on proprietary technology that seamlessly integrates into retailers, online marketplaces and carriers’ systems. The solution is designed to alleviate business to consumer last mile delivery pain points and make shopping and eCommerce deliveries easier, faster and cheaper.

According to Pitney Bowes Parcel Shipping Index, Australia passed the 1 billion mark for business-to-consumer parcel delivery last year. HUBBED’s growth is fuelled by changing consumer preferences and a growing focus on environmentally sustainable delivery solutions.
