Korean fried chicken restaurant chain Gami has continued its move into the FMCG sector through a range of ‘fakeaway’ products at Coles.
The exclusive partnership has been nine months in the making, with the fast-growing chicken brand looking to build on its recent success.
Founded in Melbourne in 2006, Gami’s 30-strong restaurant portfolio has ridden the wave of rising popularity in Korean cuisine, with revenue tipped to grow by 20 per cent for the year.
“Korean food has surged in popularity over the past few years, and we’re excited to make the Gami experience more accessible for Australians to enjoy at home,” Gami founder and MD, Jun Lee, said.
“We worked closely with Coles to recreate the flavour and texture our customers know and love from our restaurants. As Gami continues to grow its footprint nationally, this partnership is an exciting opportunity to introduce more Australians to Korean flavours at home.”
Some of the products will be available nationally, with the fried chicken and sweet chilli meal available in 475 selected Coles stores.
“Gami is already a much-loved restaurant brand, and we’re thrilled to work together to bring these exclusive products to Coles customers, making it easy to recreate that restaurant-quality experience at home in just minutes,” Coles GM commercial for meat, deli, seafood and convenience, Karen O’Connor, added.
