U.S. chain Sandella’s has announced it will enter the Australian market later this year, with a string of openings in South-East Queensland.

The sandwich and pizza business launched in Connecticut in 1994 and through strategic partnerships has now grow to over 130 restaurants worldwide. The international business extends across the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Dubai, with the Australia serving as the group’s next target.

The down under expansion will be guided by Sandella founder, Mike Stimola, who recently relocated to Australia.

Stimola revealed that Sandella’s first stores will open on the Gold and Sunshine Coasts in Queensland, before launching a franchise model.

“We are excited to be able to bring our family business to Australia and especially Queensland. We have already commenced building our stores in Caboolture and Kallangur with others opening in Mermaid Waters on the Gold Coast and Glass House Mountains shortly after,” Stimola said.

The founder also said that Sandella’s menu offering had been altered to better reflect to Australian food landscape.

“We have an improved and modified menu for the Australian market that we know, everyone will love,” Stimola said.

The first Australian Sandella’s outlets will open later this year, with franchises offered to experienced and qualified operators.
