Accor shelters vulnerable workers and families in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis.

The largest hotel operator in Australia and New Zealand is making its accommodation and services available to those most in need.

Working with government authorities and community organisations Accor hotels are housing:

  • Front-line health workers
  • The homeless and disadvantaged
  • Vulnerable families
  • Returning residents who are required to go into quarantine for 14 days

Many Accor hotels are being utilised (Accor brands include: SO/, Sofitel, MGallery, Art Series, Pullman, Swissôtel, Grand Mercure, Peppers, The Sebel, Mantra, Novotel, Mercure, Tribe, BreakFree, ibis, ibis Styles, ibis Budget).

Accor Pacific’s chief operating officer, Simon McGrath, said “We could not do this without the incredible people we have in our business. They are not only providing accommodation, but also pastoral care and kindness. We have never been more proud of our colleagues.

“We are working closely with Government to accommodate those who are required to isolate for 14 days, before they go back into our communities.”

McGrath said hotels are playing an essential role in this effort.

“The Department of Health is giving us guidance on how best to take measures to protect the health and safety of our teams and guests,” he added.

While Accor hotels across the world are sharing a message of compassion by illuminating the front of their buildings in the shape of a heart , in Australia and New Zealand, Accor teams are taking action for their local communities.

  • Mercure Sunshine Coast Kawana Waters prepared dozens of meals for medical professionals at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
  • Novotel Brisbane Airport had a jungle gym play mat and baby toys delivered directly to the room of a family staying in-house for quarantine isolation to ensure they had everything they need to keep their young child occupied during their stay.
  • Grand Mercure Auckland made an isolated guest his favourite cocktail, an Expresso Martini, to celebrate his birthday.
