The sweet treat chain Cinnabon will return to the Victorian capital under new leadership, the first of three bakeries planned for 2025.

The new store at Watergardens Shopping Centre, opens on 10 May.

Veronica Cheung is managing director of Always Hungry Club, the family-owned hospitality business that has taken over the franchise rights to the brand in the state.

“We’re sorry it’s been a few years, but the spotlight is officially back on Victoria and we are very excited to be rolling out a new store,” Cheung said.

Cheung said the store in the western suburbs would reveal a fresh new look for the brand by award-winning architect and interior design firm Elvin Tan Design.

“All I can say is that we are upping the game with this store and want buying a Cinnabon roll to be a true experience for customer,” Cheung added.

The new store is the 23rd Australian site for the Cinnabon brand, which landed in Australia in 2019.

Two years later a Melbourne store opened at Westfield Southland under a different franchisee. This has continued to operate as the sole Cinnabon store in Victoria. Sydney was added to the brand’s footprint in 2022 and earlier this year the WA master franchisee opened its second store.

Founded in Seattle in 1985, Cinnabon has become a global bakery sensation, with nearly 2,000 stores across more than 50 countries.
