David Reid Homes Australia is relaunching under new ownership just months after the business went into voluntary liquidation in November 2025, reportedly owing $1.19 million.

Matt Jackson, the founder of web design and marketing firm iSonic and a long term marketing consultant for David Reid Homes, has bought the home building business.

He takes on the managing director role and will lead the franchise chain with a focus on expansion, performance and national scale.

“We are rebuilding the business with the intention of leading the market, not just participating in it,” Jackson said.

A structured three-phase growth plan that aims to strengthen the network and drive expansion anchors the brand reset.

The first phase focuses on modernising systems, marketing and head office support. The business has already begun securing new supplier agreements and implementing operational improvements.

“There has been a gap in systems and support and that is exactly what we are fixing,” Jackson said.

The second phase will prioritise improving franchisee performance and profitability before the final phase, franchise recruitment, expands the network.

“We are building this the right way,” Jackson said. “Strong foundations first, then scale. We have a wonderful network of franchisees and we would like to provide the opportunity for builders to join us in our ambitious growth plan as well.”

Of the 12 franchisees in the network when it went into liquidation, nine have remained with the brand.

“That retention speaks volumes,” Jackson said. “It shows the strength of the builders in this network and the belief in what this brand can become.”

The boutique custom home building franchise was founded in New Zealand, and has operated in Australia for more than 17 years.

“This is a premium brand with a strong heritage,” Jackson said. “Our job now is to modernise it, scale it and take it to the next level.”
