The GoBoat business in Australia has been sold to d’Albora Marinas, which operates 16 locations along Australia’s east coast.
The electric boat leisure business was founded in Canberra by Nick Tyrell in 2017. There are 73 boats across seven destinations: three in Sydney, and one each in Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Canberra.
Among the locations, three are franchised; the franchise model was launched in late 2024.
Tyrell said GoBoat has a good alignment with the d’Albora business.
“GoBoat’s electric boating experience perfectly complements d’Albora’s marine portfolio and will bring eco-friendly and accessible boating experiences to more Australians than ever before,” he said.
On LinkedIn he wrote, “The vision was to make the water accessible to everyone, regardless of ability and budget. I’m proud to say that, with more than 500,000 guests served in Australia so far, we made the vision a reality.”
The d’Albora Marina chain is owned by global alternative asset manager MA Financial Group. Brad Couper, managing director – principal investments, real estate at the equity firm, said “This partnership increases public access to our marina and waterways, and highlights the benefits of private capital investing in public assets.”
Further expansion is planned for GoBoat in 2026.
