Lifesize Plans has unveiled a unique franchise model, a tried-and-tested business that turns building plans into a full-scale walkthrough experience.

Using patented technology, Lifesize Plans projects architects or builders’ designs on to a warehouse floor allowing clients to better visualise the space before construction starts on a project.

CEO James Hickey told Inside Franchise Business Executive it’s a long way from the familiar string and pegs method of sizing the footprint, describing the technology as a ‘gamechanger’ that is revolutionising the design and construction industries and providing an invaluable service to architects, interior designers, builders and the real estate industry.

“It‘s ideal for anybody who wants to visualise scale,” said Hickey. “We’ve got mobile furniture and walls, we help people visualise the space and the functionality. For most people they get the concept, but until it’s blown up they don’t understand the true functionality.”

The technology can be used for house renovations, smaller kitchen renovations, second storey additions or a deck, landscaping, even event management.

The Shark Tank panel praised the concept when the founders appeared on the tv show in 2018 but agreed the business needed more work.

Now the business has backing from TWIYO Capital (former Zambrero CEO and managing director Stuart Cook is founding partner) and DC Strategy Franchise Group has been working on the franchise model.

Hickey joined Lifesize Plans a year ago to scale the business.

“I’ve lived my entire life in construction. I started as carpenter, moved into management, and I’ve been a CEO and in change management,” he said.

“This business gives me the ability to blend my love for tech and construction, it’s the ultimate candy store for me. It sings to my heart, the design aspect. It means everyone gets the vision right. If you get that wrong, costs blow out.”

Hickey said Lifesize Plans is primed to expand into new markets, in Australia and overseas, with a search on for sophisticated business executives to take on international master franchises around the world, including the US.

“We believe that – with the help and vision of our investors and partners – that our quality franchise business offer will attract huge potential and will succeed around the globe.”

Franchisees investing $1m+ will operate a territory-based business in a 800sqm location; there is a low staffing requirement, a management system tracking leads and linking to finance systems, with profits based on asset utilisation.
