Snap Fitness fundraises $66,000 for mental health charity

Snap Fitness Australia has raised $66,708 for mental health charity LIVIN through its Mental Health Month initiatives in October and November.

The amount raised exceeded the franchise chain’s target $50,000.

In September, announcing the 2020 initiative, Snap Fitness Australia CEO Chris Caldwell said “At Snap Fitness our goal has always been to have an all-encompassing approach to health and wellness – we know the strong links between physical and mental health,” he said.

“The existing mental health issues our society is suffering have been heightened this year with the global pandemic, so it’s never been more important for the entire country to get behind this cause and do something to create positive change in their communities.”

The fitness chain focused on drawing awareness of mental health issues in Australia and encouraging locals to take an all-encompassing approach to health.

Caldwell told Inside Franchise Business Executive “We are very proud of the Snap Fitness network for banding together to raise funds through the 28-Day Challenge, which saw $5 from every registration donated to LIVIN as well as $37,350 of new member sign-ups.

“We also saw funds raised in a number of unique ways through the clubs such as burpee challenges, donating profits of merchandise, and the generosity of members digging deep.”

Other activities included a virtual meditation session and a free ‘move for mental health’ training week.

This week the Snap Fitness CEO [pictured above, right] handed over a cheque for the amount raised to the Gold Coast-based charity’s co-founder Casey Lyons.

Caldwell said “All of the Snap Fitness and LIVIN franchising fundraising is now complete, however the donation links remain open for those who would like to contribute over the coming weeks.”
