Studio Pilates has appointed former Specsavers executive and international franchising specialist John L. Scott as director of franchising.

Scott brings to the role experience as a franchisor, master franchisee and multi-unit franchisee.

He held senior roles in the Specsavers Optical Group – director of franchising, in Northern Europe, and Australasia.

Most recently Scott created franchised community Opthalmology Clinics in the UK as director of partner engagement at Newmedica.

Studio Pilates CEO and founder Jade Winter said “The appointment marks a significant step forward for us, and an investment in the achievement of our mission to see one million people do our workouts each week.

“With such an ambitious vision, franchising is the obvious way to go. We’re really excited to have John on board, his experience in  international franchising and in growing businesses will be a major boost in helping us to achieve our global expansion, and ultimately achieve our goal.”

Studio Pilates International opened its first US location in Louisville, Kentucky in September this year.

Winter said “Our Louisville studio has set a new record for us, with the highest sales figures ever in an opening week.”

The business is set to unveil it’s Brooklyn studio in a matter of weeks.

The US expansion follows a continued pattern of growth for Studio Pilates International, which has more than 80 studios open or in pre-opening stages across four countries: Australia, New Zealand, China and the US.

Scott said the business is fielding enquiries for the brand from around the globe.

“The US, UK and Canada are hotspots for us at the moment,” he said.

Whether in the overseas or domestic market, finding the right franchisees remains critical, he said.

“We believe consistent excellence is the hallmark for franchise success in the long term.”
