The Franchise Council of Australia’s membership has voted in six new directors to the board, under the recently amended constitution.

The fresh faces on the industry’s peak body board are three franchisors, two franchisees and one service provider.

  • Joel Kleber, Jims Group
  • Marc Costabile, 7-Eleven
  • David Ridgeway, Quest Apartment Hotels
  • Larni Mailer, Fernwood Morayfield and North Lakes
  • Ilona Teremi, BNI Gold Coast
  • Vanessa Wilmot, Geotech

The three franchisor directors – Joel Kleber, Marc Costabile and David Ridgeway -, multi-unit franchisee Larni Mailer, and service provider Vanessa Willmot, were all elected for a two-year term.

Ilona Teremi will sit on the board for the single-unit franchisee’s one-year term.

Three current directors hold a one-year transition term:

  • Marcel Lal, ERA
  • Callum Mackay, Concept Eight
  • Doug Downer, Franchise Ready

Jay Westbury, FCA CEO, said “For the first time, two franchisee directors have been nominated and elected via the member process, and this is a strong sign of things to come as the FCA embraces franchisees more and more into its DNA.”

The new board meets for the first time after the association’s AGM on 15 October, and will elect a chair and deputy chair.

The current chair is among six outgoing FCA directors:

  • Richard Thame, Fortidia (chair)
  • Kerri Wane, Schnitz
  • Abbie Oliver, Hitch
  • Clayton Treloar, MBE
  • Jason Gehrke, Franchise Advisory Centre
  • Amber Manning, Just Cuts

Westbury said “FCA members owe a huge debt of gratitude to the outgoing directors who for the past two years have led a transparent and strictly controlled rebuilding of the FCA, setting the organisation on the right direction for the future.”
