Betty’s Burgers is venturing into Western Australia, with news of a Perth outlet set to open in the next few months.

The CBD store launch will be the first step in a plan for up to five outlets within two years.

The Betty’s Burgers business has been on a roll, despite the pandemic, bringing in $80m+ in annual takings and opening six stores. The Noosa-born brand recently unveiled its 35th restaurant, an outlet in Brisbane.

According to FoodMag, the business is in the process of identifying prime sites and reviewing a variety of different store formats.

The burger chain was acquired four years ago by the Retail Zoo group, which also features Boost Juice, Cibo Espresso and Salsa’s.

Retail Zoo CEO Nishad Alani told Australian Financial Review the burger chain could sustain up to 200 restaurants around the country.

“We say 150 to 200 stores is very achievable for us,” Alani said.

The brand only operates in about a dozen of the 50 top shopping centres so there’s room for growth there. And shopping strips and beachside locations are also in the mix, he added.

The AFR reported that takeaway and delivery sales now account for more than one third of Betty’s Burgers revenue, with average stores exceeding their projected turnover.
