Aussie yoga and Pilates studio chain CorePlus is heading for North America, backed with investment from the Canadian master franchisee.
Canadian investors have signed up as master franchisee.
The launch of its first north American site is set for Toronto in 2020.
CorePlus has been operating for three years and has a network of five studios across Melbourne, with eight new locations set to open around the city by mid-2020.
CorePlus targets Canada
Amy and Michael King established the boutique fitness chain in 2016. Michael King is thrilled to be taking CorePlus studios overseas.
“We see a lot of opportunity in Canada, the market is culturally and demographically quite similar to Australia and we anticipate it to be a thriving landscape for us. We’re confident that Canadian yoga and Pilates fans will enjoy our unique class styles,” King said.
CorePlus creates original class formats across Hot Mat Pilates, Hot Vinyasa Yoga, and Athletic Reformer Pilates. Signature classes include CorePlus Hot Pilates, Sweat + Flow Yoga, Guns Buns + Tums, and Cardio Reformer Pilates. Each class is set to a curated playlist of inspiring music and led by an experienced instructor that has completed the in-house CorePlus Teacher Training program.
Expansion plans and investment
King told Inside Franchise Business “The investment will assist with establishing local operations and support systems in Toronto, as well as building out a range of marketing initiatives to grow brand awareness to both B2B and B2C audiences throughout Canada.
“Given the size of the investment, naturally there will be significant benefits for our Australian studio partners. We remain focused on enabling more of our talented instructors to become studio partners,” he said.
The Kings announced last year the brand would expand to New Zealand but the Canadian move takes the business on a different trajectory.
