The first of the My Chemist stores to rebrand to Amcal Plus opened its doors at Chadstone on 27 March.
The strategy to convert at least 20 My Chemist stores within the next six months follows the merger of My Chemist’s parent company Chemist Warehouse with Sigma Healthcare, which owns the Amcal brand.
Mario Tascone, chief operating officer, retail, at Sigma said the broader strategy is to reinvigorate Amcal’s position as a leader in the Australian pharmacy landscape.
“Our vision is to restore Amcal to its rightful place as one of Australia’s most trusted and recognisable pharmacy brands. Our commitment to the Amcal brand was recently demonstrated with high-impact national advertising at Melbourne’s MCG and Perth’s Optus Stadium for the start of the 2025 AFL season,” Tascone said.
“With our recent merger, we are poised to bring this iconic brand back to the forefront of the pharmacy industry, combining trusted services with innovative offerings to meet the needs of our valued customers,” he said.
The merger leverages the combined strengths of Sigma’s wholesale and distribution capabilities with Chemist Warehouse’s retail expertise.
