The Recovery Lab business, which launched its franchise in 2021, has gone into liquidation. It has 12 centres operating across Victoria, New South Wales, ACT and WA. The website claims a further 32 territories have been sold.
Franchisees only received notification of the winding up process on 11 November, two days after the owners put the business in the hands of liquidators PKF Melbourne.
The written notification from the general manager said both Recovery Lab Franchising Pty Ltd and Recovery Lab Leasing Pty Ltd were placed into liquidation.
“This decision was not made lightly following extensive efforts to explore all available options. Unfortunately, despite those efforts, the company is no longer able to continue trading in its current form”, the message to franchisees reads.
The wellness concept was founded by former sporting stars Matt James and Daniel Harford, and operated for nearly three years before unveiling its franchise model.
Harford and former rugby player Ben Seymour own the business; James reportedly exited the business in 2023.
Franchise Executives has contacted PKF for comment.
