The first Camy’s opened in Mascot in 2016, followed by restaurants in Surry Hills and Green Square. The fourth, opening soon St Leonards, New South Wales, will be the first franchised outlet.
Founder and CEO Cameron Khilla planned to launch a franchise model in September 2021. However, as he points out, the pandemic was still affecting businesses and he was “ecstatic” to sign up his first franchisee last month.
“We could not have asked for a better representative and addition to our family brand. I believe Josh is a fantastic fit, with his passion for the food industry, bright and happy attitude, and exceptional work ethic. We have no doubt he will enhance Camy’s and its future growth, as we continue to expand in the hospitality industry, particularly in New South Wales. I would like to officially and cheerfully welcome Josh to the family and wish him all the success in his brand new franchise journey”.
Ethical food
Camy’s Chargrill Chicken is a quick service restaurant offering chargrill chicken, salads, burgers, wraps, drinks and artisan products. They use only free-range Lilydale chicken in their menu – chickens raised on Lilydale farms without antibiotics, added hormones or growth stimulants.
They are also investing in technology to further innovate the brand, such as self-ordering monitors designed to bring down the cost of wages as they help to speed up orders. In their first week of use, 30 per cent of customers used the monitors and the brand is aiming for uptake of 50-60 per cent.
“Camy’s is an exciting franchise business that brings modern systems, marketing and operational excellence to a sector in the food industry which is typically fractured and underdeveloped,” says James Young, Head of Franchise Sales and Development at DC Strategy. “Helping Cameron and Camy’s secure their first franchisee has been very enjoyable and we are excited about the growth of the brand over the coming years. We are looking to talk to hard working, passionate people who can share in the fantastic model Cameron has created and come along on the journey.”
