Fitness Cartel Health Clubs has announced plans to open 60 clubs by 2030. The six-year-old chain serves more than 60,000 members across 17 locations in Australia and one in New Zealand.
It opened its latest club, a $7 million, 3,500sqm space in Toowoomba. The super club combines high-performance training, a premium recovery and wellness centre, and premium member amenities under one roof.
Further locations in Strathpine, Queensland, and three sites in Western Australia are set to open before March 2027.
As part of its ambitious growth plan, Fitness Cartel is poised to introduce a wellness concept, Merse Wellness, on the Gold Coast in October. This will offer premium hydrotherapy experiences, hot and cold immersion, magnesium pools, dedicated recovery zones and a Reformer Pilates studio.
Fitness Cartel’s head of property Kyle Swain said the gym’s broad demographic appeal is attractive to developers and landlords.
“Fitness Cartel is positioned extremely strongly in the market, with brand recognition and desirability at industry-leading levels. While our core demographic is 18 – 35 year olds who prioritise their health and wellbeing, our members also range from teens through to over 50s,” Swain said.
“For Fitness Cartel clubs, we are looking for 2,000sqm+ sites with 150+ car parks, with both leasehold and freehold opportunities considered, while Merse Wellness only requires 500-800sqm and can sit beside a Fitness Cartel Club or on its own,” he said.
Metro and larger regional locations including South-West Sydney, North Gold Coast, Central Gold Coast (Broadbeach / Mermaid Waters), Brisbane’s Bayside suburbs and all areas of Melbourne are priority markets for FY28 through to FY30.
