Fitness Enhancement Personal Training has won a fitness industry Employer of Choice award. The Gold Coast-based franchise beat high profile finalists Fernwood Fitness, Planet Fitness and World Gym to win the award.

Fernwood Fitness walked away with a couple of awards including AUSactive’s Franchise Group of the Year accolade.

Fitness Enhancement CEO and founder Scott Hunt said he was “pretty proud” to accept the award.

“We’re at 23 franchises now. Whilst small compared to the above [brands], we’re the only franchise system of any kind focusing on disability fitnes so we’re really proud of the impact this is having on the fitness, franchise and disability industries.

“Since 1999, we’ve always been about putting the “personal” in Personal Training and seeing everyone as an individual with their own goals.

“This doesn’t stop at our clients; this extends to our staff, our franchisees, and our franchisee staff. It’s a team effort, so this win is for our team, especially after the last couple of years.

“However, it’s just the beginning. We look forward to this award bringing more amazing people with shared values to our team. And we look forward to this award helping to raise awareness that the right personal trainer is for anyone, no matter what their ability or disability,” he said.

Fitness Enhancement Personal Training started in 1999. Hunt franchised the business in 2014 and it gained National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) registration in 2019.

Hunt’s passion for helping those who can’t or won’t attend a gym also led to the launch of a sub-brand. Fit Your Ability is Australia’s only multi-city fitness company specialising in disability fitness.

Today the two brands, studios and mobile PTs service more than 2000 suburbs in Australia.

Fernwood scoops top award

Fernwood Women’s Health Clubs general manager, Caitlin Jury was thrilled with the brand’s national win.

“There’s a reason we’re the health, fitness and wellness clubs more than 70,000 women across Australia love. We’re here for our members and we’re here for our franchisees, that’s how it’s always been,” she said.

“By supporting our franchisees at a high level from everything to marketing, sales, training, and more, we can ensure our members are always putting their best foot forward both in and out of the club.”
