Popular US burger chain Five Guys is heading to Australia and New Zealand under a master franchise agreement with Seagrass Boutique Hospitality Group.

Five Guys is a family operated franchise restaurant group that started out as a burger joint in Virginia in 1986. Today the Murrell family business has 1,654 stores across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Seagrass BHG has built a portfolio of five brands with more than 40 restaurants, across different sectors of the hospitality industry.

Its portfolio includes franchise chain Ribs&Burgers, Italian Street Kitchen and The Meat & Wine Co.

Sam Chamberlain, Five Guys Chief operating officer, said the two businesses have shared values as family-owned firms.

‘We feel confident in the Seagrass partnership because of the strong operational capabilities and our joint focus on high-quality food and customer service.”

David Ovens, CMO and franchise representative at Seagrass BHG, revealed the master franchise deal will see about 20 stores open across the country.

“We are currently looking for the best sites in Sydney’s CBD and welcome inquiries from agents. Our aim is to identify high visibility ground floor sites in high traffic areas.

“We believe Australia will embrace Five Guys given the quality, value, and authenticity of the brand.”

Five Guys is renowned for its made-to-order burgers, choice of 15 toppings, and milkshakes.

In the US it has been awarded for its burgers, and workplace diversity.
