Lenards is opening its first factory outlet, in Brisbane, as the chicken retailer celebrates 36 years in business.

Len Poulter, founder of Lenard’s, said “We had to change. The way retail has changed so rapidly over the years necessitated a shift in our strategy.”

The Capalaba factory outlet will give customers access to discounted prices on Lenard’s full range of meals. The outlet will also offer exclusive products and deals.

“These sort of shops are built to provide value,” said Poulter. “We’re giving customers an opportunity to buy in bulk and take advantage of good pricing.”

Lenard’s hopes to open more factory outlets

The outlet will offer more than 50 products, from whole chickens to frozen ready-made meals, at prices up to $10 cheaper than those found in supermarkets. Prices are on par with those at standard Lenard’s stores.

Lenard’s hopes to open more factory outlets.

“We potentially could open outlets on the north side of Brisbane, Toowoomba, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, and all across Australia,” said Lenard’s marketing manager, Kelly Beach.

Poulter began his business as a poultry retailer, franchisor and manufacturer back in 1987 in Sunnybank Hills, Brisbane.

Today, Lenard’s products can be found at 23 locally owned franchise stores and more than 600 independent supermarkets nationally.
