Restaurant Brands Australia is to be the new national operator of the Taco Bell brand. The two companies have entered into a legally binding conditional agreement, the first step in a planned transition of the brand’s Australian operations from Collins Foods.

Restaurant Brands is a long-term global partner of Taco Bell’s parent company Yum! Brands, and operates the Mexican-inspired fast food chain in New South Wales and several international markets.

David Mantellini, GM at Taco Bell Australia, said “We strongly believe in this market and are excited about the future with a clear focus on growing the brand to bring more Taco Bell restaurants to more Australians. This new partnership with RBA reinforces that we are here for the long term.”

Collins Foods is transitioning 20 of its 27 Taco Bell stores to the new partnership for a nominal amount plus the value of stock and cash floats. The remaining seven stores will close.

The proposed transaction is subject to RBA and Taco Bell finalising the terms of the partnership arrangement, obtaining regulatory approvals and other customary conditions.
