Today’s the day for Five Guys’ Melbourne launch

Five Guys is officially opening its first Melbourne store today. Located at Southbank’s promenade in front of Queensbridge Square, the venue will comfortably accommodate 79 diners.

“It has been a fun journey building the store and growing additional members of the Five Guys family,” said Robby Andronikos, Five Guys Brand Manager in Australia. “We have been searching for many years to find our first Victorian site, and know the location of our first store is fantastic in the bustling Southbank region. We have been well received in Sydney and hope to be equally embraced by the community here. We aim to have a strong Melbourne presence, with more sites slated to open next year.”

250,000 different burger combinations

Customisation is one of the pillars of Five Guys’ global success. Customers can choose from 15 free burger toppings, amounting to 250,000 different burger combinations. They can even replace burger buns with lettuce leaves, or to go completely bun free.

Milkshakes can also be customised by adding one or more of eight aptly named mixins, including fresh bananas and fresh strawberries.

A family-run burger and fries brand, the first Five Guys restaurant opened in Washington D.C. in 1986.  They began franchising in early 2002 and, within 18 months, had sold options for more than 300 units. Today there are over 1750 locations worldwide with may units in development. Last year, Five Guys debuted in China, Austria and Malaysia as well as Australia and plans to keep expanding in these markets while continuing to grow throughout Europe, Middle-East and Asia.
