UBX Boxing + Strength is ready to launch its fitness concept in Japan under a master franchise agreement with Prova Group.
The freshly-inked deal licenses the Prova Group to open a minimum of 145 studios over the next 10 years. The first studio is set to open in Tokyo late 2023.
Tim West, UBX co-founder and managing director, said “Japan is an important next market for UBX due to its strong interest in boxing, longstanding affinity with martial arts, and long list of world champions. Consumer interest and participation often follows professional success in sport.
UBX new Japan deal is an alignment of mission and values
“We chose Prova Group because of their commitment to providing a world-class boxing and strength
experience to their members, and the alignment of our mission, vision and values within their philosophy
to put local communities, customers and employees’ satisfaction at the forefront of our efforts”, Tim
West.
Naoki Hiramoto, CEO of Prova Group, said “We are excited to bring UBX’s unique blend of boxing and strength training to Japan. UBX’s approach aligns perfectly with our mission to enrich people’s lives and we are confident that it will be a huge success in the Japanese market.”
The Prova Group was established in 1963. Its business portfolio spans hospitality, entertainment, health, lifestyle and wellness, insurance and human resources.
UBX was co-founded by four-time boxing world champion, Danny Green and Tim West, and opened its first club in 2016.
The UBX Japan deal boosts the business’ international spread. Today there are more than 90 boutique gyms across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. Mid-2022 the business entered a strategic partnership with Empowered Brands to open 250 gyms across the UK and Ireland.
In total more than 400 new gyms are contracted to open across Japan, the UK, Ireland and the US.
