Urban Clean is ready for the US, with plans to launch the commercial cleaning franchising model in Texas this September.

GM Kirk Simpson will be heading up the US expansion, starting out with a corporate office, and to then include master franchise opportunities in other American states.

Founder Damien Boehm told Inside Franchise Business Executive he believes there is plenty of potential for the Aussie business to make its mark in the US marketplace.

“The commercial/janitorial cleaning franchise format has its origin in the US. We bring a different, fresh approach – a new take to an old model that focuses on equipping franchise partners to take full control of their business, and to determine the size they want their business to become,” he said.
“To date, a number of US commercial cleaning franchise brands have been imported into Australia. We see potential for an Australian brand such as Urban Clean now to become a leading commercial cleaning franchise and a strong alternative to other options already available in the US market.”

One such US business with an Australian presence is cleaning giant Jan-Pro Systems International. Over 2020, with Covid-19 raging, Jan-Pro reported a massive 500 per cent increase in upgraded special cleaning/disinfecting services.

Earlier this year it was acquired by private equity firm MidOcean Partners as part of a major acquisition of multi-brand business Lynx Franchising, a multi-brand franchise platform focused on commercial and industrial services with core offerings in cleaning and disinfecting, disaster remediation, and virtual office services.

Urban Clean started out in 2009 and has been franchising since 2014. Today there are more than 100 Urban Clean franchises across Australia.
