Zambrero has reached a new Plate 4 Plate milestone, distributing more than 70 million meals through its social mission initiative.

Plate 4 Plate has a goal to end world hunger, and provides a meal for someone in need for every Zambrero burrito, bowl, retail item or kids Zam Box sold.

Matthew Kenny, CEO, Zambrero, said “Our humanitarian mission is a core part of our business, and we are immensely proud of what we have achieved with our latest milestone.

“Alongside our not-for-profit partners Rise Against Hunger, Love Mercy and Foodbank as well as our loyal Zambrero customers and volunteers, we will continue working towards our goal of donating a billion meals to those in need.”

Zambrero, which has the tagline Feel Good Mexican, has Plate 4 Plate counters in each restaurant so customers can see the impact of their purchase.

The Mexican chain’s annual Plate 4 Plate Day is on 13 October. Meal Packing events will be held across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, the Gold Coast and Adelaide with volunteers aiming to exceed last year’s 430,000-plus meals packed in one day.

Rick Kearney, CEO, Rise Against Hunger, said “Zambrero’s relentless efforts have helped millions of people facing food insecurity, which in the current environment has never been more critical. Having already delivered one of the most impactful social missions of any fast food restaurant in Australia with last year’s Plate 4 Plate Day, we are not only proud of what’s been achieved so far, but are looking forward to continued impact through the initiative.”

Zambrero continues to expand its restaurant network of more than 250 quick service restaurants in Australia and overseas. The Plate 4 Plate program will continue to play a key role in driving the business at scale, with a mega goal of donating 1 billion meals.
