Coffee retailer, Zarraffa’s Coffee is celebrating a major milestone in 2026 – marking 30 years in business. It is also 25 years since it launched its franchising model. It now operates more than 85 store locations across the country.
Kenton and Rachel Campbell founded the coffee chain in 1996 in the back streets of the Gold Coast.
Kenton Campbell said reaching the milestone is a testament to the people behind the brand and its values.
“Thirty years in business is a proud moment for everyone who has been a part of the Zarraffa’s journey,” he said.
“What started as a small roasting house serving coffee to customers who would sit on hessian bags of green beans, has evolved into a national brand where our philosophy has always remained the same – to deliver great coffee, genuine service and a consistent experience our customers can rely on.”
Sustainability, community and ‘trade not aid’
Campbell described franchise partners as the heartbeat of the brand.
“They’re passionate local business owners who bring Zarraffa’s to life in their communities every day. Their commitment to quality, service and customer connection is what makes the brand special,” he said.
The specialty coffee retailer established strong relationships with coffee growers and communities and maintains a ‘trade not aid’ approach.
It roasts its coffee blend on site at its state-of-the-art roastery at Zarraffa’s HQ in Eagleby, Queensland.
Zarraffa’s has also invested in supporting conservation and wildlife protection through its partnership with Australia Zoo and Wildlife Warriors.
The brand opened its first drive-through in 2009 at Worongary, and has prioritised this format in its expansion.
“We’re beyond proud of what we have built over the past 30 years, but we’re even more excited about what’s ahead,” Campbell said.
Zarraffa’s has outlined its strategic growth ambitions, and aims to reach 200 stores by the 2032 Olympics.
“Our goal is to continue growing in a way that supports our franchisees, strengthens our communities and delivers an exceptional coffee experience for customers across Australia,” Campbell said.
