  • Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers
  • The Fish Factory

Australian businesses were encouraged to submit their entries and nominations of aspiring entrepreneurs were also encouraged during a six-month long campaign.

The search to find the next best franchise required companies to be based in Australia; have an ABN; have been operating for at least 12 months with one or more units; demonstrate strong profitability; be at least 50 per cent Australian owned, with active owner operator in key management role and no adverse credit history; be led by passionate owners looking to scale operations locally, regionally, nationally and globally.

Rod Young, chair judge and founder of DC Strategy, applauded all entries and said “The judging panel had the extremely tough task of scoring fantastic and incredibly strong entries that were presented in a very professional manner. We are confident that the best four entries have made the final round.”

The judges included FCA chair Brendan Green, Poolwerx founder John O’Brien, Just Cuts GM Amber Manning, Motto Motto’s Matt Fickling, William Edwards from Edwards Global Services and Inside Franchise Business Executive editor Sarah Stowe.

The winner and runners up will be announced at the Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo in Sydney on Friday, 26 March 2021 at the exhibitor drinks event.

All four finalists have been invited to attend the two-day expo and will get the opportunity to meet and greet industry leaders.

Young said “Congratulations to all the finalists and we look forward to helping your business grow and scale through franchising.”

The Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo expects about 3000 visitors to attend the two-day show, the first such event in Australia for 18 months.
