Burger brand Grill’d has opened its first drive-thru restaurant in Melbourne.
Simon Crowe, Grill’d founder and managing director, said the new Chadstone drive-thru restaurant is part of a larger five-year growth strategy.
“We aim to open 30 new restaurants per year, with an ultimate goal to have 300 sites nationally by 2029. Of the next 50 restaurants we open, half will have drive-thru facilities,” Crowe said.
Grill’d opened its first drive-thru site in Mount Ommaney, Brisbane last year.
“Chadstone was the perfect choice for our second drive-thru location,” said Crowe. “Melbourne was where we opened our first restaurant in Hawthorn 20 years ago, so the city and surrounds will always hold a special place in the heart of the brand.
“Chadstone is a thriving community, with locals frequently visiting Australia’s largest shopping centre nearby and looking for healthy, convenient food post a shop or on their way home from work.”
Scott Bradley, regional general manager for Victoria, said the business is recruiting about 60 staff for the new restaurant.
The business celebrated its latest opening with a weekend of special offers, including a giveaway of 754 burgers. The number represents the street address of the first Grill’d store which opened on Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn in 2004.
The Chadstone drive-thru brings the Grill’d footprint to 172 restaurants nationally.
