Hyatt Hotels have arrived in Brisbane. The Hyatt Regency Brisbane, the eighth operating Hyatt hotel in Australia today, is sited in the CBD within Queen Street Mall.

It is the first project between Hyatt and Aussie-based global fund manager Salter Brothers and marks the return of the Hyatt brand into the state of Queensland.

David Udell, group president, Asia-Pacific, Hyatt, said “We are grateful to work with Salter Brothers on the first Hyatt hotel in Brisbane and look forward to bringing the premium service and energising experiences that the Hyatt Regency brand is known for to this vibrant city.”

The 292-room hotel has been rebranded from the former Next Hotel, and will undergo a refurbishment to enhance the guestrooms, public areas, event spaces and dining venues. The Next Hotel Group will continue to operate the venue.

Hyatt has had a brand presence in Australia for more than 30 years and the arrival of Hyatt Regency Brisbane is seen as a strategic addition to the company’s growing portfolio.

Paul Salter, managing director, Salter Brothers said “With our commitment to a new investment in this hotel, its excellent location, well-appointed guest rooms, atmospheric pool terrace with an infinity pool, and Hyatt’s renowned restaurant and bar offerings, we fully expect Hyatt Regency Brisbane on the Queen Street Mall to be the city’s hotel destination of choice for both business and leisure travelers alike.”

Salter Brothers has a focus on alternative investment offerings across specialist property, credit and private equity. Included in its portfolio of hotel investments are the Crowne Plaza Canberra, Coogee, Melbourne, and Greenbelt Washington DC, as well as Holiday Inn in Potts Point and the Intercontinental Rialto Melbourne and Charlotte, North Carolina.
