Sushi Sushi plans to expand its store presence in New Zealand, with a goal of 35 stores in 10 years, and has signed a master franchisee with Subway experience.

The master franchisee, Stanley Greene, brings nearly 30 years’ experience at Subway, in business development, and as a franchisee.

He will take over the existing Sushi Sushi Botany store in Auckland and is looking to grow the brand footprint across the North and South Islands.

“I’m currently looking for franchisee partners that display a deep understanding of their local market along with a proven track record in the restaurant or retail industry,” Greene said.

“Sushi Sushi offers premium branding, high-quality product offerings, eye-catching marketing, a very strong operational system and four flexible footprint store design options (micro, food court, stand-alone and train).”

Greene said the four formats enable franchisees to find a store that matches their experience and budget.

The new plan revives the 2019 goal to have a New Zealand footprint of 30 stores. At the time Sushi Sushi sold a majority share to Odyssey Private Equity and announced its focus on the Kiwi market.

Earlier this year Sushi Sushi acquired rival chain Sushi Musa.
