The Franchise Council of Australia has announced its new CEO, Matthew Monaghan.

Board chair Brendan Green said “Matthew brings a wealth of experience to the FCA, having worked in and lead peak membership bodies over the last 20 years. Members will have the opportunity to meet Matthew at the National Franchise Convention at the Gold Coast on May 15-16.”

Monaghan has led education and engagement in the Victorian public sector and advocated for policy reform across diverse sectors.

The new CEO is also a Fellow of the Governance Institute and holds an MBA. He recently studied business innovation, disruption and digital transformation at the Saiid Business School at the University of Oxford.

Monaghan said “I look forward to working to progress the advocacy efforts of the FCA as we strive to drive the advancement of franchising through the delivery of relevant, purposeful and influential member services.”

Peter White has been acting CEO after former CEO Mary Aldred exited in February 2023. Aldred spent five years in the CEO role.

White will now take on the role of chief operations officer, with a remit to drive membership growth.
